Bobbye and Jerry were high school sweethearts from McLeansboro, Illinois and were married 41 years. They have three grown children, Kathy, Brian, and Holly. They also have eight grandchildren. The Sloan's made their homes in Salt Lake City, Utah and their hometown of McLeansboro. In Jerry's 16th season as head coach of the NBA's Utah Jazz, Bobbye was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She had been a six year survivor of breast cancer, but this new, more deadly cancer, took her life on June 18, 2004. The Sloan family, as well as Bobbye's sister Jody, organized the "Hand-in-Hand" Foundation to continue the generous love and support Bobbye and Jerry have for their community.
